Mexico Decriminalizes Possession...
Marihuana, cocaine, opiates.... small quantities, but it's a start...

One thing that wasn't clear from what I read on this was whether, if caught with these drugs, the drugs would still be confiscated. (My impression was they would). I think thats a good thing (well not necessarily marijuana but definitely for the others). Don't punish the addicts for being addicts, but at the same time, don't turn the other way when they're destroying themselves. They're also keeping it illegal to sell the stuff, so I say, good for Mexico.

This is Good News....
This is good news. History shows that prohibition causes an increase in violent crime and an increase in govt corruption. This will reduce the power of Mexican drug lords which will help everyone on both sides of the border.

Laws like this sort of assume that the weed just shows up in peoples pockets.
I just got back from the dam. They tolerate you having up to 30 grams on your person, but growing it is still illegal. The cops could bust into Abraxas or Pink Floyd and say 'where did this come from'. The UN has a law against weed btw, which is really dumb. I wouldnt want to smoke that mexi schwag, anyway. |
