2/4 River Bluff
The last two times I have raised I was called heads up by the same guy and I folded the flop when I missed and he bet into me.
I dont have too many hands on him but he appears to be a little loose and passive and tighter postflop than preflop. And he likes to donk non-broadway flops. So I am dealt A [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] Q [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] in MP2 and I raise. He calls in the hijack and everyone else folds. Flop 5 [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] T [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] 2 [img]/images/graemlins/spade.gif[/img] I bet he calls Turn 5 [img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img] I check he bets I call River K [img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] I bet. Good? No Good? |

Re: 2/4 River Bluff
Why slow down on the turn?
Do you think he’s too likely to suspect you’re bluffing when the 5 hits? If he is, then I like slowing down on the turn, then bluffing when the King comes as a scare card for him (hopefully). |

Re: 2/4 River Bluff
Well since I folded to him twice my original plan was to induce a bluff but when the K fell I took the opportunity to represent AK.

Re: 2/4 River Bluff
Seems like a good card to try one. I think the quesstion is can he lay down 77 or 65 given you bet. What's his folded river to a single bet stat? losse passive = calling station =don't bluff doens't it?

Re: 2/4 River Bluff
I bet the turn again on the chance you are still ahead plus the chance you can at least catch up if you are not.

[/ QUOTE ] i thought you were trying to mimic a flush draw. well whatever. i think given what you have told me about this opponent, namely that he is tight postflop, i take it to mean that he can make the "big" laydowns when he is "obviously" beaten. for that reason i think he will fold about 25-30% of the time here making it a profitable bluff. |

Re: 2/4 River Bluff
i guess it's not too bad, but without a better read, i don't typically try and bluff in this situation. it really depends on what you mean by "tighter postflop than preflop" (ie. how tight, and how confident do you feel with this read given that you don't have that many hands with him). all i know is that barring a read telling me otherwise, your typical 2/4 opponent is never (edit: not often enough) folding a better hand here.
FWIW, i, too, would have b/f the turn |
