Common situation :99 donked on flop
Just sat down. No reads.
I raise 99 in MP. Both blinds call. Flop: 56Qr I get donked by BB. Hero... Which are the lines you take here. Which lines against different opponents? If I have seen Villain donk with second pair I raise this and bet turn and might bet river too. I take this to showdown way too often, I think. It feels I'm spewing 2 BBs at least in those pots and get shown Top pair too often. How do you decide which line to take? When will you be able to lay this down? If you start calling they bet 2pair to the river so it seems you gotta decide what to do on flop. Fold or take it to showdown. It costs at least 2BBs to take it to showdown and the pot is like 7BB on showdown so u gotta win at least 30% of the times. Any insight in this common hardplayed scenario is welcomed. Any links to good discussions is appreciated(I suck at searching). |

without reads I almost always raise the flop, bet the turn, and check the river

Re: Common situation :99 donked on flop
What do you guys think about raising the flop, checking the turn behind so you don't give a stronger hand the opportunity to check-raise while a weaker one would fold.
This also induces a river bluff from a weaker hand which i then call. |

Wacken: I like that line assuming the board isn't real drawy.
DMB : are we folding to a 3-bet on the flop? |

Re: Common situation :99 donked on flop
I like the raise or fold line on the flop. Fold only if bettor is a VERY respectable, straight-forward player. So I raise probably 95% of the time. Following that, if reraised, I fold. If called...
TURN: If turn card could help villain, I do like the check to avoid check/raise. RIVER: If bet into on river, I probably call. If checked to me, my betting or checking on river depends on type of player I'm facing. TURN: If turn card is a blank I bet again, which may fold villain out. If called, then river I check. If raised on turn, fold. Easier to think this than write it out. More complicated sitaution than I realized. |

Re: Common situation :99 donked on flop
i would raise this without reads. perhaps questionable.
now it belongs to the SB how i would go on. if both call i will only fire a blank turn card again and check through a scare card and even be capable of folding the river. if SB folds and and BB 3-bets then folding is possibly the best option. if BB just calls i bet(/fold) most turns again and decide at the river if i should value bet (or call a bet) or... |

I think it's an easy fold to a checkraise against most opponents. |

I think this is a definate flop raise unless you know the BB as passive. If sb cold calls you are probably behind and can check and fold later streets unimproved. If only BB calls bet/fold turn, and check river. Fold to any turn or river donks. |
