T9s flop 2nd pair
In hindsight I think I should have folded this after the turn raise since the pot is so small. Any other suggestions?

Re: T9s flop 2nd pair
I'm curious why you like raising the flop. Do you have a read on UTG?
I'm tempted to say folding the flop is best, because it sucks less IMO than raising or calling. As played, I think the turn is an easy fold to the c/r. You have 2nd pair and 5 possibly dirty possibly RIO-infested outs to improve. |

Sorry, I forgot to include prior knowledge of UTG. I'd seen him stab at flops in this fashion a few times prior and thought he may be BSing.

Re: T9s flop 2nd pair
i try this on the flop way too often. 4SB in the pot. its not worth getting tricky over.
if you go down this path. check behind on the turn. then i guess bet/fold the river. dunno about the last one. |

Re: T9s flop 2nd pair
With your read of UTG the flop is fine. When you get check-raised on the turn, it's time to fold.
As an aside, your turn and river play are inconsistent. When he check-raises you on the turn, either you think you are behind and therefore should fold since you're not getting odds to see the river, or you think he's full of it and call down. |

Re: T9s flop 2nd pair
you should have checked on the turn, especially if you had known that the guy c/r at all.

Re: T9s flop 2nd pair
Well I bet the turn because I saw his river call as a sign of weakness.
I'll admit the turn call was simply a lapse in thought. |

Re: T9s flop 2nd pair
The more I think about it the more I think the flop is a not-close fold. Mix it up with this BSing UTG in a better spot with a bigger pot.

Well I bet the turn because I saw his FLOP call as a sign of weakness. I'll admit the turn call was simply a lapse in thought. [/ QUOTE ] FYP, I think. With your turn bet, are you trying to get him to call with a worse hand or fold a better hand? If it's the latter then you're making a mistake, and if it's the former then you're making a mistake. Against this type of player, checking the turn and calling a river bet is often superior. |

Re: T9s flop 2nd pair
noob grunch:
I think the flop raise is ok. You might have the best hand. You want BB to fold. I think I would have taken a free card on the turn. As played I'd fold the the raise. |
