CSC,
I thought about this hand during my morning run, and I really dont think it matters much what you do on the turn or the river. I understand Mike L's point about this specific situation, but I think he is wrong in his assumption that BK knows you wont fold AK. I think both you and BK know you might. Really what I am saying, and I think someone else also made this point, is that both the turn and river are so close it doesnt matter IMO. |

"...how many of you are betting the river without improvement?" almost never. if he's calling the turn, he's calling the river. [/ QUOTE ] Mike that is so not true. recognizing the spots where that is true and not true can make you a lot of money. |

not betting the turn is a serious mistake. you need to fold the river once youve misplayed your hand and turned it face up. [/ QUOTE ] You're wrong here. Let's says CDC does in fact turn his hand up as he checks the turn. Literally for everyone to see, including BK. BK now bets the river. Does he always only bet hands that CDC loses to? Of course not. |

"game theory says call about 20% of the time here"
Not necessarily a big point, but game theory actually says BK should be bluffing 20% of the time that he is betting here. If you were to only call 20% of the time, BK would be right to bet every hand he had b/c he'd take down the pot 80% of the time even with nothing. Not sure off the top of my head, but my guess would be that game theory calls for calling a relatively large percent of the time to stop this from happening. |
