Default 15/30 - Pocket 7\'s in the small blind

Good, live 15/30 game. It's my first time playing brick & mortar in over a year.

Slightly loose/aggressive UTG raises. He seems to play fairly well after the flop. Two calling stations cold call on the cutoff and button. I call in the SB with 77. The BB seems to be a solid, fairly tight player, and he calls.

Five to the flop for 10 SB's.

Flop: 8-3-2 with two hearts (I have the 7 of hearts).

I check, BB checks, UTG bets, both calling stations surprisingly fold, I raise, BB calls, UTG calls. BB appears to be on a draw, UTG appears to have two big cards (I think he would have 3-bet a big pair).

Three to the turn for 8 BB's.

Turn is an offsuit 5.

I bet, BB calls, UTG folds.

Two to the river for 10 BB's.

River: non-heart Q.

I check, BB bets, I call. I think this is a clear check on the river, but others might disagree.

There's little sense in betting the river. You're only getting called by hands that beat you. You might even get put to the test by a the BB who may only be able to win a good sized pot with a bluff raise. Do you want to face or call a raise here? Probably not.

Hopefully you induced BB to take a stab with a busted draw or he's holding something softer than a 8 or Q and figures your draw didn't come in. He could very well hold an unsuited A8 with Ah.

The check/call makes for an easier river decision. No need to get overly fancy and/or recklessly aggressive if you haven't played live for 12 months.

If you put him on a draw, easy call since more draws don't have a queen than do. I think when he bets if he is unimaginative you will lose to A8 or something like that quite a bit.

Well played. I check that river about 95% and call every time. BB will bet a lot of missed draws and also some hands that you can beat but will fold blown draw to your bet. I will bet it against some lunatics who will bluff raise me but those retards are hard to find.

I might donk the flop if I'm pretty confident that the laggy UTG will raise with overs, otherwise I think it's better to wait and see what develops on the flop. Well played.

He mucked his hand after I called on the river.
