34% of the time to be +EV. The more I looked at the hand, the more I understood your logic, but the flip side to him being sick of being bullied is him knowing that if he checks a monster often enough, you'll bet.

he raised UTG, then called a reraise of 4x his bet. What's his range? If your point is that he's sick of your aggression, lets forget the post-flop action. Before the flop comes out, does he have an A, KK or JJ, less than even half the time? Does he call the reraise with KJs? That may one semi logical option where he thinks he's raising the river for value.

Looking at the context and the postflop play in a vacuum, your play might make sense. Looking at the preflop action, I can't justify it.

I think the only hands he can turn over if you're right are TT, 99, KJs, (QQ for a chop), unless it was a tilty bluff from the very beginning.

he just did the exact same thing the hand before though. this makes me think that his range must be wider than your giving him..

what is the bet on the river? Are you hoping he folds an A? That bet makes zero sense. Super thin value bet hoping he has a J? I dont get it

But if the range is wider, that opens up a number of hands that include an 8.

I can see betting the flop only if u think a worse hand will call. If not, more bad can come from betting flop than from checking.

An 8 may play like this but I doubt it, especially given the context.
