I never know what to do here. I'd just raised the last hand, and I've been on a decent rush, so it's possible he's just playing back at me.
But I could just be talking myself into a call! I never know. He could have a set, big draw, top pair, or a pair lower than mine. WTF do I do? PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em Tourney, Big Blind is t200 (8 handed) converter Button (t14495) SB (t1500) BB (t31334) Hero (t44899) UTG+1 (t8667) MP1 (t13744) MP2 (t17525) CO (t8795) Preflop: Hero is UTG with T[img]/images/graemlins/club.gif[/img], T[img]/images/graemlins/heart.gif[/img]. Hero raises to t800, 4 folds, Button calls t800, 2 folds. I would have raised to t600 PF. My CB would be a little less as well.
He could be doing that with AQ or he could be semi-bluffing with two spades. If they're two spade overs you're actually an underdog even though you're ahead now. Either way you're in bad shape. You're only beating someone who is purely playing back at you or someone who thinks their middle PP is still good. He has invested nearly 1/3 of his stack here. I guess he can fold to a push if it's just a move but I probably lay it down here in the event he cannot or it's not a move. |

Difficult.
I dont think you can fold here - looks too weak tight. With your stack, I pump again to 8k and fold (if reraised) or shut down if he calls (unless you hit the ten). Calling in this situation is again tricky IMO, as if a Q, A, K or J hits the turn you really dont know where you are. The idea of the big stack tourneys is to give you more play and have the ability to 3 bet without the nuts. Jon |

Calling here would be like the opposite of seeing monsters under the bed.

I'm confused too. Ansky, are you saying a call is okay or dumb?

I fold here. You made a large enough CB that I don't see a normal player bluffing here. If you raise and have the best hand you win the pot but if you are wrong you will lose a lot more money. Unless reads tell you otherwise, give the man credit for a hand. Even a semi bluff with a flush draw will have at least 12 outs to beat you making it near a coin flip. Give the hand up and wait for a better spot.

I think it's smarter to make a weak/tight fold per se then blow your tournament when this guy is representing KQ or AQ, which he could very well have...and has you drawing to two outs. Find a better spot. |
