I very rarely chat. An occasional 'nh' and 'gf' and sometimes a 'I don't work in a hospital.' because of questions over my screen name.

Is, IYO, turning off chat -EV because of what you can do to others or because of what you can learn about them, or because it keeps you focussed?

[/ QUOTE ]

Because donkeys are constantly giving away free information w/ their chat. There are times when people have said after I raise their blind "man I would call, but we're so close to the money!"

If you are so sensitive that you can't bear to read some stupid anonymous chat, then you are passing up on free EV+.

[/ QUOTE ]

I had the exact same situation on the bubble, the lowstack says " i have to make it into the money" , needless to say i owned his blind after that.

I'm pretty bad about this. Everyone here already knows that.

I have very volatile moods. And when I'm running bad they get worse. Poker is not a great way for the temperamental to make a living. Erm... I mean I'm working on it, but it's just so frustrating.

I really have to learn something about accepting that I can't win every time.

[/ QUOTE ]

I have been doing the same thing. I have calmed way down from when I first started. Now I just say "nice suckout" or maybe a "you played that crap? nh" sometimes with a "fishy" added in for effect. I did have a guy tell me to kill myself once after he had been calling me many other names. Most of the time I just say NH or GG after I bust 'em. Great post though. I really am working on being more civil. Damn bad temper I have.

Yeah, my bad habit is typing LOL when some idiot calls an allin or REraises me with something ridiculous (like A5s) and he goes busto. I shouldn't tap the glass, but not really sure if typing LOL is going to keep the fish from playing, but it does show a lack of class on my part.

Also people, the reason to not berate fish is not just because you're hurting yourself and making them leave. How about, respect for a fellow human being? So they made a bad play, it's no reason to berate them. People play poker for all sorts of different reasons, and just because they may suck, doesn't mean it is right to come down on them for it.

edit, rockin this wasn't directed to you I just saw your post after this

I agree and admittedly should refrain from classless acts (as stated in my post)

I like Caro's line here...

Hmmmm, I don't usually play 4 7 offsuit, but I won twice with it yesterday. Maybe we're onto something!

WTF NICE TWO OUTER

[/ QUOTE ]

Man I have seen some really amazing stuff in chat boxes last few weeks. In a 200 turbo STT on stars, these 2 guys were going at it the whole time, and at one point one guy said "I really hope you get AIDS and die."

[/ QUOTE ]

After a hand I posted here (I called an all in with 44 on a Q-9-5 board.... opponent had AK... was probably a bad call but whatever) the AK guy ended up railing me for 45 minutes he eventually told me the my parents must've molested me when I was young.

I find the best way to deal with bad beats is to pull an Ansky and type asl;dfjk;laskdjf;laskjdf;lasjkd about 4 times. That usually doesn't offend.
