Busting Vega$: The Mit Whiz Kid Who Brought the Casinos to Their Knees
Does anyone have any information on Busting Vega$: The Mit Whiz Kid Who Brought the Casinos to Their Knees by Ben Mezrich?
I'm kinda curious to check it out but I don't know if it has useful substance to it. Thanks in advance. |

Re: Busting Vega$: The Mit Whiz Kid Who Brought the Casinos to Their K
It's probably an okay read for a "non-fiction story" if it's anything like his last gambling-related book. I'd read it for entertainment, not substance. I'd expect things in it to have a dramatic-embellishing flavor because of his last book.

If you find "Poker Nation" entertaining then you'll like "Busing Vegas". There's a bit too much drama and the author leaves you with the mistaken impression that these guys were unique in using team play for advantage and/or that it was the methods used were developed at MIT. The author is fond of the juxtaposition of smart kids doing street wise things to make a lot of money though the theme gets repetitive. You also get the predictable view of the breakdown of trust as greed takes its tole on the players.
All things considered the book is a very fast read and fun to read. |

I don't know this book but "Bringing Down the House" by Ben Mezrich was good fun. It tells the story of the "latest" group of MIT students to play Blackjack for profit and how nothing lasts forever .....
