At what point do you feel your bankroll is above variance?
In other words , you've been playing for quite some time. Your growing your bankroll steadily with every large sample of sessions.
At what point , say how many buy ins should your bankroll have grown to , that you feel you can happily play at your limit forever. An example; you started out with a 500$ bankroll for 1-2$ limit. You've been playing for a month now , on average you win say 10-30 BB's per lengthy session. You do encounter loseing sessions , but over 100+ sessions , you obviously win much more then you lose. At what point do you think your bankroll can withstand a lengthy dry spell / long run of variance. does this question make sense? Maybe I should ask , with your worst dryspell , how hard was your bankroll hit ( dryspells scare me ) |

400 BB. That's what I cash out to when I'm up. Ran two months only cashing out 100 BB, have cashed out 3 times that much this month. Worst session -120BB, worst dryspell, Feb-Mar basically break-even.

Re: At what point do you feel your bankroll is above variance?
Hi arc,
I wrote an app for this and put it at www.pokervillain.com/HoldemSimSetup.zip If you know your win rate and standard deviation per hour (or at least a worst case win rate and standard deviation per hour), you can figure out how big your bankroll really needs to be to cover dry spells. If anyone wants the source to this, it's all in C#, just PM me for it. |

Isn't the 300BB the standard for the purpose of riding out variance?

Play within the suggested bankroll, run good, not scared, +EV decisions. That's all we can do.
