Stop making rules
Now that there are multiple threads with exhortations that people should stop fixing posts or making other types of posts, I just want to make one general point: rules for OOT suck.
I agree that there are many annoying routines here. But one essential aspect of OOT, imho (which is an irritating abbreviation that people should stop using), is the freedom people have to make asses of themselves and behave like 5 year olds. As that freedom gets restricted, OOT will become less entertaining. Post and let post, I say. |

Re: Stop making rules
how about we stop making posts about the rules and then it would almost be like the rules don't even exist? we wouldn't have to hear about them and as long as you don't suck at life, they'd have no affect on you. how does that sound?

My very FIRST impression of OOT is that it's a place where anything goes, and I feel this freedom may be getting restricted. |

[/ QUOTE ] Even if the rules don't inhibit the posts I make, they will inhibit others from sucking. And I think that's bad on principle, and because I find those really pathetic posts sometimes the most entertaining, even if they are unintentionally funny. |

Re: Stop making rules
I'm all for allowing most things, but sometimes people are just retarded or a certain type of post becomes used way to often and starts sucking up the board (see new sticky about FYP's). Frankly it's nice to have someone like [Censored] around to put the idiots in their place.

NT [/ QUOTE ] I actually think this is an interesting question, whether OOT implies that "anything goes." Perhaps my perspective is colored from the fact that I used to post at other forums where the closest thing to OOT was a separate section literally entitled "anything goes." Funny thing is that at those forums, I used to argue that the section was idiotic. But for some reason over here, I see a lot more entertainment in making this as close as possible to "anything goes." |
