scotty,

if a FYP is funny or on point enough, then it will not result in a banning.

so the poster knows they are risking it before making one. but in the event a truly good one pops up, the person can feel safe making it.

[/ QUOTE ]

So for example, if i were to take [censored]'s original post:

[ QUOTE ]
I hate FYP's and they make me very angry.

Starting at April 18th PST lasting for 1 week (7days) any FYP that is not funny and clever (read none of them) results in a instaban.

Enjoy!

and go:

I'm usually good for one FYP per week. I have no intention of stopping.

If it gets me banned, then I'm only being banned from a place I wouldn't want to go to, anyhow.

I've never done it, but I didn't really have too much of a problem with the FYPs. However, now that I'm forced to think about it, many of them really do suck. The week ban may force people to kick the habit but after that I would be against it becoming "law". Hopefully people get the message from this event and then you won't have to moderate/restrict the limited number of FYPs that linger. Because honestly, a permaban for something that people obviously feel is clever/getting their message across seems harsh.

Hopefully doing this right now and having the discussion thread is enough to let them know that it isn't that clever, and most people really don't like them.

The "decision" is incredibly stupid. Who has he consulted about this beforehand? Is it the general consensus that FYPs should result in a penalty, or is just something that [censored] dislikes and wants to enforce?
