Re: *Official Sopranos 4-16 Episode*
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] On a more serious note, when Sil talks about Captain's not kicking up the full share to Tony, he makes specific reference to Paulie. More foreshadowing that his day will come. [/ QUOTE ] How does kicking up work? I think they explained this in Donnie Brasco, but it's been a long time since I watched that. From what I remember, each member kicks up a certain percentage of his earnings to his boss, who then kicks up a percentage to his boss. E.g., someone in Chris's crew would kick up to Chris. Chris would take all of his earnings plus those of his crew, and kick up to Tony. IIRC, part of the kick-up is mandatory. E.g., Chris has to kick up a certain amount each month (or week or whatever). If his crew doesn't make enough money, Chris has to make up for it. From what Silvio said, everyone holds back something. Easy to do because no one keeps paper records. So Tony has no idea how much Paulie made in a month, so he can't figure out exactly how much he is owed. Any thing I missed? [/ QUOTE ] Nope, thats about right, if someone makes MORE than the minumum settle up number, as logn as the boss doesnt find out, you can hold it back. If the min settle up number isnt reached, it HAS to come from somewhere. |

Chris starts out under Paulie and Paulie tells him I'm the only guy you gotta worry about, meaning he has to pay Paulie a certain amount each week no matter what. Paulie then says the only guy I have to worry about is Tony. Paulie has to kick up to Tony each week. In this instance, Chris is a soldier and Paulie is his Capo. Capo's usually kick up directly to the boss or underboss(which there wasnt one at this time). |

Ditto. They wouldn't be smoking pot at the Soprano house. But if they were anywhere else why would they worry about someone coming? |

Tony lived there for a while, and thats where Carm would have movie night with the other wives. |
