It's possible this is not a no-brainer to continue with the hand like the other posters have responded. In fact, it can be quite the opposite. It CAN be a no-brainer fold.

All you have to do is assign some percentages to his hand range. If you don't know the opponent well you have to assign a rather large percentage to unknown. But you imply you know this opponent well.

Note two things however - let's say you were 99% sure he had a higher set:
1) You should probably check the flop and call a small bet on the turn if for no other reason than to spike a two because you have odds -- i.e. he will always call your push
2) Seeing a showdown is important for meta-game purposes. You'll have another piece to a puzzle you have nearly solved i.e you will know for sure what his flop check meant in this hand. So you might want to go passive, hope for a cheap showdown.

Disclaimer: given the fact you are posting the question means it is more likely that your read of him is not as strong as you think.

I love how the higher-stakes forums assume that anyone who posts in our forums plays like an idiot, and therefore every idiotic play should be posted in our forums. Perhaps you should read Jay McCauley's article on representative heuristics in this month's 2+2 magazine. Here's a quiz question to test your reading comprehension: which mistake did you just make?

No, I do not assume that people in this forum play like idiots. I do assume that posters/posts in the higher forum are for "higher level thinking" and more unique/creative plays rather than trivial, basic plays. Especially basic plays that somehow manage to still get [censored] up even in a deepstack 3/6 online game.

I also feel that the posters in this forum could probably learn more from this hand than the posters in the high stakes forum, that's why I moved it here.

This is so condescending.

"Sorry, we didn't realize you guys were still around."

"Yeah, maybe next time you'll do some research"
