If you bet the flop, you have a good chance to get a free river, no matter what falls on the turn......

Do you mean free showdown? I mean why would you check behind on turn (no matter what card came)??

any J+ and any club hurts your hand, plus everyone has 13:1 odds to call anything here. I wait for a safe card on the turn against so many players.

So if J+ falls on the turn, what is your line? A broadway cards falls, the PFR bets...THEN you're going to raise??? or do you fold?

Your equity can change in this hand on the turn. I still advocate waiting. If a scary card fell on the turn and I was shown some aggression then I would fold. Plus, more people are less willing to fold to a turn bet than to a flop bet.

EDIT: oh god I'm about to get a new a-hole ripped aren't I?

Well...if say 4 opponents call the flop bet...and Ace falls on the turn and it gets checked to me...I'm not going to bet it.....would you? I would take the free card and hope to spike my set on the river.....

Ok, heres my opinion. In my first example, we bet. No point giving free cards to lone single overcards. Second example, closer but bet again. MP2 probably has unimproved overcards and likely won't bet the turn unless he improves. Maybe someone in EP will c/r us with top pair or something, driving people out, we can only hope at this stage. In a more tight/aggressive game someone is a lot more likely to take a shot at the turn or open up because he missed his c/r, and they'd have better hands to start with, so getting a good protection turn raise isn't so unlikely or wrong.

*Grunch*

I'd just bet out here, I wouldn't want to give a free card.
