PartyPoker $50 NL - Overpair Hand - Totally Lost :(
Villain is 23/14/4.3 over 80 hands.
I know I should have bet the turn, but is the river an insta call? If so, what hands is villain betting here that we are beating? Comments on all streets welcomed I find situations like this extremely difficult and often find myself spewing out lots of chips. Re: PartyPoker $50 NL - Overpair Hand - Totally Lost :(
Well if he was going for the A/x heart draw...then he hit his ace on the turn, Id probaly fold the river here..
That or you could re-raise push all in =) if he has a weak ace he might fold anyways |

This is a tough hand. I think the mistake is on the turn. I think this is where you really find out if you are beat or not. The check isnt terrible since he checked behind which kept the pot size down. I think you have to make the crying call on the river though as played.

Re: PartyPoker $50 NL - Overpair Hand - Totally Lost :(
I really regret not betting the turn. Assuming I had bet the turn, and he flat called, what would my river action be? Obviously I would check, but could I release the hand if he then bet say $20 into the pot, or would I have to call him down?

If he calls turn river is c/f IMO.

Re: PartyPoker $50 NL - Overpair Hand - Totally Lost :(
Preflop: Calling or raising is fine. The real chump preflop is CO, who posted 7.5% of his stack.
Flop: I'd make it closer to full pot, you need the protection, but whatever. Turn: Lead, fold out villain's draw or small pair here; fold to a raise. River: Check/call is good, as by now you've induced a bluff from anyone with a pulse. You may be beaten, but you probably make more money from a check/call than you save by blocking. |

If he flat calls the turn I am leaning towards c/f on the river unless he bets some ridiculously small amount.

If your willing to call $15 on the river, might as well pop $15 in on the turn and rep. the ace. If called, I c/f river.

Bet turn, as played call river knowing your beating only a bluff

Re: PartyPoker $50 NL - Overpair Hand - Totally Lost :(
Ok, so I think we can all agree that the best line would be to bet the flop, bet the turn, and then c/f the river if villain is still in the hand (unless if the river bet is only very small in which case we obviously call)?
