Default WizardOfOdds vs BlackJackInfo

Hello all, I'm a recreational player who doesn't count cards but wants to employ optimal Basic Strategy. I play on the Las Vegas strip every so often -- BlackJackInfo has a strategy engine with the rules built in for Las Vegas Strip 6 deck www.blackjackinfo.com/bjbse.php Wizard of Odds has a Multiple Deck-Dealer Hits Soft 17 guide http://wizardofodds.com/blackjack . They differ on a few points and I'm wondering what the scoop is and which I should follow:

______WoO BJInfo
A8 v 6 -Dbl -Stand
A7 v 2 -Dbl -Stand
17 v A -Sur -Stand
88 v A -Sur -Split
11 v A -Dbl -Hit

Thanks,
Robb

You are probably better off asking Wizard of Odds. He seems to be responsive to those sorts of queries. However, I would guess the the ev difference is minimal. Maybe something like +/- .001.

2+2 also has a blackjack book with details on basic strategy. It might have the answer.

both charts are technically correct, but each reflects an important rule change.

the WoO charts is based on the dealer HITTING on soft 17, the "Vegas Strip 6 Deck" chart on BlackjackInfo has the dealer STANDING on soft 17. however, at this day and age, I'd say at least 2/3 of the strip casinos all HIT on soft 17, so if you set the blackjackinfo engine to reflect this rule, you'll see the chart generated will then be identical to WoO's chart.

ideally, you want to find a casino that still has the STAND on soft 17 rule, and then use the appropriate chart. tell us where you generally play in LV, and I'll tell you if it's good, or give you alternatives which are better.

Default thanks and my usual casinos

I'm an idiot - when I punched in the Vegas Strip 6 deck default options - I saw "S17" and for some reason thought "hit Soft 17" not Stand on Soft 17. That was the discrepancy -- thank you.

I generally stay on the main strip because I play at Bellagio and Wynn poker room while friends/wife are playing at the same casino or casinos close by -- so at times I join them in the pit (so they actually see me at some point during the vacation).

What you are looking at is the difference between the dealer hitting and standing on soft 17.

I assume the WoO BS is 6 decks dealer hits soft 17 and the BJInfo is 6 decks dealer stands on soft 17.
(and if the shoe game doesn't offer surrender - 8,8 vs A is always a split).

The Blackjakc info is for S17 (dealer stands on all 17's) and the Wizard of Odds strategy is for H17 (dealer hits soft 17). The standard Vegas strip game used to be 6 deck S17 late surrender, resplit aces. However, H17 is becoming pretty common on the strip as the casinos get greedier and greedier.
