Re: Pocket 7\'s as an overpair...did I play this right?
I think a call is in order.
I think a PFR is a necessity here. |

Re: Pocket 7\'s as an overpair...did I play this right?
it's tough to fold to a 1 dollar bet here but i don't like the raise
i think this is a pretty read dependent situation his stack size and any comments may help but as is i don't like playing a big pot in this situation |

That was the guy either hit raise or bet pot preflop. Neither seemed to make a difference. Sometimes he had a monster and sometimes it was no different than a live straddle.

Re: Pocket 7\'s as an overpair...did I play this right?
Normally I would have riased, but all a PRF would serve to do here is pump up the pot, this guy wasn't going away. It seemed that the poker voices were telling this guy his preflop hands on the fly. If he was in the hand, he was going to be in the hand. Nothing I was going to do, other than making large preflop bets, was going to stop that.
Sometimes his plays made sense and sometimes the guy played the cards he wish he had instead of the ones he was dealt (I kid you not). As fishy as he was, he was a pain in the ass to play against. I mean, usually a player has what they consider a big hand, and situation depending, it stays reletively constant. With this player, that just wasn't the case...sometimes TKGP was a monster to him. However, in one hand, he actually checked down bottom set on a raggedy board, in last position. I don't mean check called, no one was betting and he checked it down. Sometimes he was solid, sometimes he was a calling station, and sometimes he was a maniac. He had to have been drunk, off his meds, or both. That's why I added to the first post about overpair situations in general. I wasn't interested in this exact hand, but it served as a decent example as to theorectical situation that has been vexxing me as of late. |
