Default 5/10 KJ 2nd pair by the river

On Pacific, so no hand history file.

I'm in the CO with KJo and 1 limper to me. I raise, blinds fold.

Flop is a K 2 2 rainbow. Checked to me, I bet, he checkraises. I call, thinking I'll raise the turn.

Turn is an A, no flush draw. He bets out again, I wuss out and call.

River is a 9, he bets and I reallllly want to raise here. Good idea or no? I figure there's pretty much 0 chance I'm getting reraised, and 3 BB is pretty much the exact amount of action I wanted to put in on the big streets here.

My usualy "standard" line is to just 3-bet the flop, but I'm trying to mix it up a little. Does the turn A just completely kill this plan? I don't like raising the turn A because I feel like it makes him fold air or a mid-pair too much, and also creates a confusing river situation whether he checks or donks.

Thoughts???

I think his range is pretty big when he checkraises the flop.

Threebetting might kill your action, though.

Raising the turn sounds nice (if you can fold to a threebet), but I don't know if I could do it in the heat of the moment either.

Interested to hear what others have to say

i juat call down after the flop check-raise. if he wants to bluff off his chips then who am i to stop him. also, if he does have me crushed i want to get through the hand as cheaply as possible.

On that flop, with the prior action, there is a very good chance that I'm well ahead here, and I really wanted to get in an extra bet here. The turn card complicates things a bit, especially since I don't really have any reads and it really just comes down to how often he'd raise me A-high on the flop.

I think my general query is asking about under what conditions waiting until the River to raise is the best strategy, and this hand is just an example.

I think this is a perfect time for a turn raise.

1. You can get a fold from a hands like KQ, KJ, or KT. Which is a good thing.

2. If limper is check raising the flop with a middle pair and leading the turn, he is likely to give up betting on the river.

3. You can check the river through to take a cheap showdown.

4. You can safely fold to a 3-bet.

Eh, any K you guys are chopping most of the time. This is an either "Tied of Way Behind" line. Best case scenario is your making very little on this hand. Call, Call, Call.

I like your idea to wait for the turn to raise but you are gonna take that line you have to decide what cards can come to make it so that you can no longer raise. An A was one of those cards. You now chop with any King and any ace beats you.
Without reads its hard to say but i think you now have to call down and certainly can't raise the river unless you really think he will fold a king or call with worse.
