Re: Most underrated NFL player
[ QUOTE ]
Reggie Wayne [/ QUOTE ] Hard to agree to the 10th highest paid WR in football, might have agreed last year though. Of course that's just recognition from Indy, if you mean nationwide maybe, but it's a week maybe. |

Re: Most underrated NFL player
[ QUOTE ]
[ QUOTE ] Didn't the fans vote Glenn to the probowl? [/ QUOTE ] He was first alternate in '06 I think, maybe more people know him than I thought. I looked back and he has 5 pro bowls, so I'm way off(I pretty much pay no attention to the pro bowl). I think Clifton and Lepsis are good tho. [/ QUOTE ] Yeah he was an alternate in '06, and yeah as LTs go he's pretty underappriciated, but anyone that's not Ogden or Hutchenson, or (in recent times) Mawae and is on the OL wins this award. Re: Most underrated NFL player
The first thought off my head was a bunch of safeties that don't get much credit. Someone liek Darius isn't the best...but I'd say he is really underrated for what he brings.

what is a non-casual fan? [/ QUOTE ] I put myself in that category. Anyone who will watch a few NFL games a week that don't involve their favorite team. |

Re: Most underrated NFL player
FWIW Lepis tore his ACL v. Cleveland and is done for this year. Erik Pears played for him yesterday and did a pretty good job on Dwight Freeney.
I second Adalius Thomas. 270 lb OLB who also plays DE and safety, is a gunner on punts, works on kickoffs and drops into coverage on guys like Antonio Gates and Willie Parker. Has 6 sacks, 36 tackles, 1 int and 3 passes defended in 7 games in 06. His versatility is a key to the Ravens ability to throw different looks and unique blitzes at opposing teams. He will drop into coverage on a wide receiver when they bring inside corner blitzes, for example, or drop into deep pass coverage when they bring Ed Reed. |

Re: Most underrated NFL player
I want to say Akin Ayodele. He's an oustanding OLB(even though he is playing ILB this year). Does well in the running game but excels in the passing game both in QB pressure and coverage.
There is another MLB I want to name but because it would be homerism I won't say it. I'll give initials though, MP, and I don't think its close. I think NoodleMan would agree with me as the guy is also a former Colt. |

Re: Most underrated NFL player
Alan Faneca. He's a pro bowl stalwart but still unknown. IMO he's better than Hutch.

Re: Most underrated NFL player
No homerism here, Mike Peterson. But stroud/henderson might be best DT combo in the nfl, so...
