Re: Official Rules for playing with a \"rock\" - Please explain.
Never heard of this before - where does the rock come from in the first place?

So, if you have the rock is it against the rules or bad form to leave before posting it? [/ QUOTE ] Yeah it is kind of bad form; those folks are called rock eaters and are shunned. [ QUOTE ] Never heard of this before - where does the rock come from in the first place? [/ QUOTE ] By agreement, either everyone contribrutes a chip or it comes out of an agreed upon size pot. |

Never heard of this before - where does the rock come from in the first place? AB [/ QUOTE ] The only time I've seen one in play, I spent about five minutes explaining how it worked and getting the table to agree to it, then I just pulled a rubber band out, made a rock out of my own chips, and straddled UTG like any other rockstraddle. It's probably the best 2bb you'll ever invest. |

Re: Official Rules for playing with a \"rock\" - Please explain.
The rock eaters are no fun. One old guy kept winning it and immediately unwrapping it in a 2/4 game I was playing. Since I introduced the idea, I'd simply ask for the rubber band back and make a new one. The third time it happened three people threw me $1. After that other people would make the rock if this guy won. He eventually left to play 1-3 stud or something. Everyone else seemed to love the idea.

Re: Official Rules for playing with a \"rock\" - Please explain.
[ QUOTE ]
Some casinos (Canterbury park) dont allow a rock into play. So check with floor before getting kicked out over one, and make sure the entire table agrees. Often, there will be someone who gets the rock, and wont stradle, generally, the rock is just bought off that person and put back into circulation. [/ QUOTE ] If the rock is just an odd-value chip, I don't see how they can prevent it (other than by coloring out the chip each time it goes in the pot). If it's a bunch of chips rubber-banded together, well, then I guess it's easier to enforce such a prohibition. |

[/ QUOTE ] It isn't - in NL, BB means Big Blind, not Big Bet, as in limit. 2BB in NL means the same as 1BB in limit... AB |
