Official Rules for playing with a \"rock\" - Please explain.

Can someone please explain the official rules and procedures for playing with a "Rock"?

I have a general idea, but I would appreciate a more concrete explanation of some of the other rules associated with a "rock" game.

Rule 1: find a table with calling stations or LAGS. Avoid rocks.

Re: Official Rules for playing with a \"rock\" - Please explain.

A rock, in a 15/30 game, is generally a 25$ green chip. Whoever starts the rock, stradles with the 25$ chip and a 5$ chip. The rock stays in the pot, and whoever wins the pot, gets teh rock. When that person is in position to stradle, he stradles with the rock, and the rock moves on.

Some casinos (Canterbury park) dont allow a rock into play. So check with floor before getting kicked out over one, and make sure the entire table agrees. Often, there will be someone who gets the rock, and wont stradle, generally, the rock is just bought off that person and put back into circulation.

If you have the rock and are utg then you live straddle. If you win that pot then you have the rock. That's basically all there is to it.

So if you win the rock and are not UTG, what do you do with it? Keep it until you are UTG and then straddle?

So, if you have the rock is it against the rules or bad form to leave before posting it?

You can leave with it or without it...if you have it and dont want to post prior to leaving, then ask someone to buy it. They usually will.

i play at a local place here, and they play 2/5 nl w/a rock. they let you straddle from anywhere, so whoever wins the pot/the rock has to straddle w/the rock. i believe that it's still just 5 to go, but the rock gets last action.
