One more question, if I may.

Can anyone count the odds for hitting (assuming all needed cards are live):

flush

straight

straight flush

[/ QUOTE ]

I ran a sim in PokerCalculator by giving a player 5678 all hearts and made 22QQKA dead/seen cards. It dealt 100,000 hands and I added up the number of times it made each hand and got this:

Straight: 22.2%
Flush: 38.3%
Str. flush: 14.1%

Which looks right. Calculating for the SF, determine the probability of not making the SF with 3 cars to come:

1 - (40/42 * 39/41 * 38/40) = 13.94%
You'll make a straight flush an incredible one in 7 times (almost) and make any of above hands 3/4 of the time.

I'll still see if I can verify the others.

Thanks a lot! Very kind of you. So roughly one wins every second time with a hand like that. Worth betting with only one player in...

NO!!!! (or yes, worth betting, but not winning 1 out of 2)

You can win this hand many different ways, back into 2 pair, etc., not just flush/staight. You are a huge favorite over an average hand heads up.

Vs. 0ne pair Q Q 2 6 (no hearts) 75% win

Vs. Two pair A A 2 2 (one heart) you still win 57% of the time!!! Heads up!!!!

Againt A A A K (no hearts) you still will win 48% of the time!!!

And look at this.
Vs. 2 2 2 5 (no hearts), you are favored!!!!!

This hand is so big the only worry is how to get the most money into the pot.

The stronger your opponents' board, the more likely it will look as if you are raising with a flush for value.

Which leads me to think that you should consider not raising if your opponent is likely to fold if you catch a heart on fifth or sixth, but may misread you as starting with a small pair if you just call.

I would add a quick warning that 5h 6h 7h 8h is about the same as Th 9h 8h 7h in a big multiway pot; if you hit your low straight and a high hand starts jamming with you, you are actually in deep trouble if multiple low draws are left, let alone a made low.

By all means jam with your draw early on (if you are in good position), but be careful with a made hand when another high player shows aggression.

You can raise on 5th as well if you suspect your opponents have only pairs or low draws (even low wheel draws); you are over 50/50 to make your straight or flush.

Caugt another nice hand yesterday: started with AAA but as my hand didn't improve, lost to a boat. I downloaded the PokerCalculator -it's freeware! Well, you probably already knew it...

It doesn't say explicitly, but I believe she's playing hi, not hi/low.
