5h 6h 7h 8h

4th street 5h 6h 7h 8h.

Check, call -wait for the missing card?

Bet, raise, get money in the pot -hope for the missing card?

Raise. Raise. Raise. Raise. Ask if they want to bump up the limits. Get out the title to your car. Offer your sister for the weekend. But get more $$ in the pot.

(You are almost even money heads up against rolled aces here).

I like this strategy, but the question is difficult to answer without knowing how many players in the pot, 3rd street betting, upcards etc. We need to know if we can expect a bet elsewhere and from what relative position.

I had one of those babies a couple of days ago and managed to trap three villains with a check-raise on 4th. At 7th one opponent was left and I bet again as I had been doing since the CR. I had Queen high but a beauty of a busted monster draw. He thought forever and finally called with a pair of jacks. Good times!

Cheers,

Smurf

Depends on a few factors, like: how many are in the hand, how many hearts, 4's and 9's are dead, and what result the bet or raises would likely do to players behind me. Automatically doing anything would be a mistake.

Generally, though, you want to build as big a pot as you can.

Four players in the pot. FL 1/2 or 2/4 (can't remember which as I've played both today). One paired door card, one flush draw. Others: poop?

I played the hand as if I had it already: raise on 4th, betting all the way. Got the 4h on the river.

Like SweetLuckyMe said you want to get as much money into the pot as possible but you definitely don't want to eliminate players, so play accordingly.

Even against a paired door card, you're in pretty good shape. The only reason not to raise is if you will knock players out by doing so.

One more question, if I may.

Can anyone count the odds for hitting (assuming all needed cards are live):

flush

straight

straight flush

This is how far I got...

seen cards 4+2+2+2=10

remaining cards = 42
remaining hearts = 9
remaining fours and nines = 6
remaining 4h and 9h = 2

flush
straight
straight flush
