I'd like to say that I don't talk on the table for a number of reasons. Tapping the glass is just one.

What you are missing is that you played the average player at this limit. Against me, the smallest hand I call with is two pair, as I have to beat your overpair at least. Against the average $25NL player that play might be OK, but it will only win small pots and loose large pots against a player like me.

The only way to get me to lay down a small pair preflop is to bet more than the pot, something more than 2.5 times. Otherwise if I miss, all you win is the preflop raise.
