[ QUOTE ]
I currently hate b/f on the river, if you can't stand a ck/raise, don't bet. [/ QUOTE ] This is really bad. If you're never thinnly VBing on the river when checked to, even when it's possible than you're VBing the worst you're missing an incredible amount of value. In this particular hand against someone who was described as very tight, I wouldn't mind checking behind as he will have AA and KK a lot, but I also think that this guy would lead the river if he had those. I'll give you a different example. Say a good LAG opens up MP3 and you call on the button with JdTd. Flop 2s3dTh he pots and you call. He pots again on the 7h turn and you call again because you think he's double barreling. River comes Jh and he checks. This is a spot where if he checkraises, you probably throw up and fold, but never the less this is a still a clear value bet on the river when checked too. Just because you can't stand a river check raise, doesn't mean you should never bet because of the possibility of one. You're simply missing too much value from marginal hands that will rarely lead but are almost always check calling. |

Bet $35 he has AK and will call lol [/ QUOTE ] Just curious how you guys put him on AK. Why wouldn't he bet the flop with top pair, top kicker? Too dangerous of a flop? I would have thought he would play KK the same way... |

The reason you are ahead is because he checked both the flop and the turn. On the flop, AA would bet to protect from the straight draw, and KK would most likely bet/fold to see if you have AK or better. On the turn, he would bet or check-raise if he had made the straight. Remember what you stated at the beginning: This is a TIGHT-AGGRESSIVE player. Is his play standard for a tight-aggressive player? Negative.

I fire $20-25ish and fold if he c/r, because its basically never not a boat from BT2, he just doesn't get tricky like that ever.
And we have to fire the river because he will pay off with AK here almost all the time I think. |
