Every time I post in BBV, they tell me how bad I played the hand. I'm skipping the middleman.

Something felt wrong about getting myself pot-committed with transparently large preflop and flop bets, but not so large enough that I crushed his implied odds enough to make subsequently stacking off when the diamond hits a non-error.

I knew the K[img]/images/graemlins/diamond.gif[/img] was horrible for me too. I 'crying bet' the turn, which I regretted when he raised as expected. I really wonder if I should have checked. I felt compelled to bet because I didn't want some random broadway or diamond to get a free shot at runner/runnering me, but I don't know if that is good poker. What hand other than a flush can take his line? I probably would have heard from AK/KK preflop, and almost certainly AK/AT/66/TT on the flop, so KK or diamonds is the only hand he can have.

He had to call 164 to win 993, with a 18% chance of turning an out. There's some fudge factor in there, because I still have decent equity when he hits, but it seems like I did something wrong by not getting more in somewhere, somehow. Maybe I should have sized my preflop raise differently, because of our depth? Then, in general, a full pot bet on the flop would be enough to make weak draws incorrect to call.

Also, I'm wondering if there was some way I could have induced him to semi-bluff the flop, so I can get enough in to kill his odds. Might he have raised a weak-lead, or a normal-sized lead, allowing me to shove? Would he have taken the bait if I represented QQ and checked the flop? I'm wondering if my flop full pot froze him up, to my detriment.

That's because they suck.

You are vastly overestimating how often he a) Has a flush draw on the flop b) Has a flush, on the turn.

Bet less, but this is pretty player dependant. A lot of guys just won't raise you with this draw, on this board very often.

What are your estimations?

I'm having trouble coming up with combos of semi-bluffing hands (AhJd/AhQd?) left in the deck that can see the turn, and even those have to be discounted because they rarely shove this deep against my displayed strength.

i don't think anyone is arguing with you over the awkwardness of playing this hand postflop with these stacks, but your answer pretty much lies in your title.

also, do you normally bet full pot on the flop in a reraised pot? if he's never semibluff shoving or such and he's calling any amount than this is fine; i'm just curious

No, this was a big aberration, probably a tell, and probably a mistake. I basically invited him to call and stack me, rather than try to semi-bluff me. I almost always do something closer to 60%. In the moment, the rationalization went through my head "maybe this will look bluffy, because who the hell full pot cont bets in reraised pots?", but I think deep down, I just did it because I had top set, knew I was committed, and didn't want to get sucked out on 150bb deep.

Against the real whales I will bet my big hands bigger because I know they'll call any pair/any draw regardless of my bet size, but this villain is a presumably-thinking regular.

wow this is such a [censored] easy hand

150bb, you have top set, you could easily have him oversetted, flop is A high with Ad and you full potted and he called, turn is Kd. chance he has a flush draw here is so small and even if he has it you have [censored] top set so whatever just hit a boat

he has AK/TT/KK/66 here so often that doing anything other than what you did is simply retarded

Once he shoves, he has it a good amount of the time, and is very rarely semi-bluffing.

He's not gonna be shoving here very often though.
