If you are planning on keeping this site going as a blog, I would definitely recommend WordPress to you. If it's going to just be static data with few updates (or even blog-like form with hardly any updates), then I don't see a problem with pure HTML/CSS.

Absolutely - I did use WordPress 1.x for that blog and was very pleased with it. I haven't tried WP 2, I've decided to experiment with Joomla instead for now. This site is meant to be static, although now that I have the 7-page template working I'm probably going to reuse it for other $1.99 .info projects.

I think the hardest task I am going to face is getting high enough in the search engines. I did submit the site to Google and Yahoo, and Google's spiders came by ten minutes later. One really great thing about wordpress is that if you were writing about some obscure words, Google would shoot you straight to the top of the SEO for those in just a few days. In my case, it was some golf courses where I played.

I am trying to create a site that would allow customers of mine to log in and store information on the site.

They would establish an account, then fill out a series of forms that would ask them questions (real estate based). At the end, they would have all the data stored for easy future access. It would need some sort of security feature to protect personal information.

I know this sounds a little broad, but where would I start to look for a template like this? I have searched around on OSWD, but it seems like I might need alittle more than most of those sites provide.

Thanks!

You can use a database to store the information. MySQL is a very popular one, and free. To communicate with the database, you need to learn a programming language. One of the most popular combinations in web development is PHP/MySQL. PHP is very easy to integrate with the Apache web server. I would suggesting searching for a tutorial about PHP MySQL to get started.

Hi folks,
I have been reading the Forum Project and started using Nato's advice about articles. It is a cheap way.
For 2 months I read and read, subscribed to all kinds of junk and got nowhere. Just confused.
New Year's came, I decided to get some help developing a web biz.

Anyway here are two sites I have gotten on the web.

http://wealthy-affiliate-coaching-method.blogspot.com/

http://ggment.googlepages.com/webbiztips

These are quite feeble. I am going to concentrate on Clickbank products and use article writing and keywords.
According to people smarter than me these 3 sites are the top for submitting articles to.

http://ezinearticles.com/sitemap.html
http://www.goarticles.com/

go articles is less strict on using links to your affiliate sites in the resource box.

From what I gather you have to submit different articles to each or they don't count.

SEO is complex.

My portfolio is at www.mrstudios.net, but it hasn't been updated in a long time. My most recent work is www.roscobc.ca, it's almost done.

I used to run a couple of sites when I was younger, the most popular ones were the emulation sites taemulation.com and romulators.com.

I am thinking about starting a new one soon now that I have a little bit of disposable income for marketing, just need an idea.

This doesn't appear to be the right URL unless the site you mentioned has gone down. Should this be something else?
