Default Help with splitting odd chip in O/8

I am a fairly new dealer working at the Commerce, and something came up the other week while splitting a pot between either 2 high - 1 low / 1 high - 2 low hands, that made me think I was doing something wrong. Say there are 67 chips in the pot after the river, there are either 1 high 2 low hands, or 1 low 2 high hands, you will have 2 stacks of 20 chips and then 2 stacks of 13 in front with 1 odd chip on top, the 1 high or 1 low hand gets paid first, but what happens with that odd chip? Does it go to which ever stack is getting quarted? I know between 1 high and 1 low the high always gets it, and then between 2 highs or 2 lows the player closest left of the button gets it, but I'm not 100% sure where that odd chip goes before you pay either the 1 high or 1 low hand while its stacked on top of the smaller stack in front. Any insight would be great. Thanks in advance.
