I’ll be thirty years old in a few months and it’s looking like I’ll be a lot of things that I never thought I’d be. So to continue with the new Pills, Spills, and Bellyachin’ theme of OOT…

At 30, I never thought I’d be:

Divorced
Still Smoking Cigarettes
Not Writing
Drinking heavily
Still playing Rock and Roll
Living in the Suburbs
Not living in Washington DC
Working in an Office
Gambling
Childless

HOWEVER: the jury is still out about whether I’m disappointed or not. The 14 year old me would be bummed, but f—k him, he’s an idiot. Here’s a list of things I thought I be at 30 that I am not:

Fat
Dead
Still playing D&D in my mother’s basement
Still living in my mother’s basement
Singing passionately in a Hard Rock band
The possessor of long flowing metal locks
Broke
The father of several spoiled children
Driving a 1974 Dodge Camper van
Writing for Rolling Stone magazine (yuck!)

All in all, a mixed bag. A push: I never thought I’d be boring…
