I have never heard anything good about the Detroit casinos on 2+2.

Monday night I played at Greektown.

The only limit game going was 3/6. I asked and started an interest list for 5/10 and 10/20 that never grew to more than four players. During the course of a six hour stint at 3/6 there were three very loud arguments at the 50-100NL tables. One was a clear angle shoot where some big guy pushed and then flipped over his AA claiming some guy said call. There was a lot of shouting and swearing over about $80. Ridiculous. And a number of guys in t-shirts, sunglasses and baseball caps trying to look tough.

As for my 3/6 game, it was inhabited by the worst players on the face of the earth. I am not kidding when I say this game played like .10/.20 online. It was very loose and VERY passive. This allowed me to play for big pots and I took down a few big ones, once check-raising the field on the turn with the nut straight and they all called.

The dealers...

1) My buddy bets TT into four players on the river when a fourth club hits an ace high board. A bit of a suicide mission, but when the lady in the one seat starts tanking the dealer leans over and motions with his head. She shows him her cards and he makes a raised eyebrow face then looks back at the board and taps his fingers.

2) Different dealer keeps commenting on the board. Some comments are in fun like "here we go again" on a monotone flop or "and the board pairs" on a turn or river. Very much 'kitchen table' poker.

3) One dealer is more intent on watching the Tiger game than the poker game. 'nuff said.

4) Another dealer complains about management. He was a fun and competent dealer and I felt was embarassed by the state of the room. He also was very unhappy about how the floor handled problems with bad seeds/players who caused trouble.

There are a few very good people working in this room. You will also find the softest 3/6 games imaginable. The chairs are very comfortable. It could be a very good room, but it is not.

Tuesday night I played at Motor City.

Motor City is so much better than Greektown right now there is no comparison. The rake is capped at $6 rather than $5, which is a killer for $3/6. I played $10/20 which always seems to have at least two tables going, one being a must move.

The atmosphere is cleaner. They have pagers when you are on the wait list, which is displayed on monitors. They run tournaments. The dealers are noticeably better than Greektown. The 10/20 game has plenty of regulars. The main game can fluctuate from loose/agg to tight/agg depending on the makeup of players.

Early in the evening I had a great seat with two LAGs and a calling station on my right. Two very good players on my left. Later in the evening one LAG and the calling station stopped donating and left the table...and I left shortly thereafter.

I have seen Motor City deal with problems better and more quickly than Greektown. The room is very cramped and I find the chairs a little uncomfortable, but the overall experience is way better than Greektown right now.
