Re: Do you fold this river?
Raise preflop.
As played, fold flop. (3 clean outs to the ignorant straight, no kicker for your A if you hit, and do you REALLY want to show down with 2nd worst pair if you hit the 4?) Seriously, why are you still in this hand by the river? As played to the river, call 1 bet, expect someone to turn over a 5x or something. |

Raise preflop. [/ QUOTE ] Why would you do this? There's already one player in, your position isn't all that great, and raising cuts into the implied odds that your hand thrives on. |

Re: Do you fold this river?
*grunch*
preflop: may be okay at a relatively loose, passive table. Assuming the 3 limpers before the SB raise are typical, this is probably okay. flop: GSSD + 1 over getting 13:1, easy call turn: GSSD + 1 over getting 9:1 (less rake), borderline call river: 2nd to bottom pair, villain who's been aggressive from the start, and a caller -- fold. There is no way your 4's are in first place here. UTG+1 does not call down with deuces. |

Re: Do you fold this river?
[ QUOTE ]
Wow, this thread went to hell at the end: [ QUOTE ] correct me if i'm wrong, but the exact odds for drawing to a gutshot with 4 outs on the flop is 10.75:1 so with 11:1 pot odds ur still making a profit over the long term. [/ QUOTE ] Exxcept you're not drawing to making a straight, you're drawing to winning a poker hand with a straight. Since you're straight isn't to the nuts, and you've only got 3 clean treys not four, you want better odds than that. [/ QUOTE ] i wasn't talking about the odds in that particular situation, i was referring to drawing to a gutshot in general, when there is no possible flush draw on the flop. Furthermore, i stated in my original post that due to the two spades on the board, i'd want higher odds then what was in the pot. |

You might even have > 50% equity on the river but there is no way you are more then even a 2:1 dog! Fold getting 11:1!!! You guys are frickin nits [/ QUOTE ] i love that like half the threads i read now i disagree with almost every response, then shillx posts exactly what i was thinking. folding this river is OMGWTFBBQ.... nicely played all round. |

Re: Do you fold this river?
hmm couple of things after reading the rest of the thread.
if he is a true maniac (as his stats seem to suggest) i dont mind value raising the river. its probably slightly higher ev than calling.... not by much tho so i still prefer the call. also to all those calculating the pot odds... we have an ace! |

Re: Do you fold this river?
A 17-hand sample isn't enough to say that villian's a maniac or whatever. Maybe he's just been a card rack. What's he been showing down?
I really think this hand would be easier to play with a preflop raise. As played, I think I can find a fold on the turn unless we've seen that villain's been showing down utter crap. |
