'For value' is the most likely answer to your question

Re: why is he betting this much with a made hand?
i think a player like this... who is a fairly new player would not make that play

Re: why is he betting this much with a made hand?
What do you mean 'new'?
It doesn't matter much how much he bets, you're going to be committed most ways Really I think fold pf with no reads, the min-4-bet at 10NL is not to be taken lightly And if you did have reads, include them in the OP |

Re: why is he betting this much with a made hand?
The only reasons I could think of are the following:
1. He has AA or KK and is getting it in. 2. He has something like KQs or QJs and is looking to protect that hand (against a spiked Ace or K (if he has QJs), turned two pair, or an fd if the board has 2 of a suit on it) or get value for what he thinks is the best hand (TPGK). 3. He is putting you on AK and he has an underpair to the Q (JJ or TT) and is going to knock you off of your AK. He could also have something like 76s, but I think this is rare given his 4-bet preflop. 4. He has a monster (QQ, 88 or 55) and is going to get it in. This is very rare for 10NL as almost everyone slowplays two pair or better waiting for the turn to raise when there is more money in the pot. Some of the very top 10NL players will play these big hands fast (I say that facetiously because I play big hands like this fast and it is amazingly deceptive and completely baffles the standard 10NL player who usually says something like "Why did you bet so hard on the flop?" once you hit showdown". We should note that 55 or 88 are somewhat hard to swallow given that villain did 4-bet. But whackier things have happened. |

Re: why is he betting this much with a made hand?
Not being results oriented this is a fold preflop, 9 times out of 10 villians will have AA or KK and are just taking you to town with it.

insider secret: normally when people bet and raise a lot, its because they have something good.
