What is he calling your flop bet with? And what hands push the turn?
Sounds like an Ace to me. I fold. |

Re: Is this a +EV or even sane call?
i would say that by him CALLING your BET (its harder to call than it is to bet) on the flop, i would put him on an ace or a diamond draw and then he hit on the turn, and he shoved for 20 BB's and u called...id say u were behind from the beginning..
also...89o...fold preflop? |

fold preflop. fold the flop. it's not even close postflop, even against shorty.

fold preflop. fold the flop. it's not even close postflop, even against shorty. [/ QUOTE ] 1st level of this MTT and the table was rather passive. I was on the cut off and was fairly confident I could see a cheap flop after the UTG limper. An assumed 3:1 on my money... hey, they were mid and connected :-) On the flop I had 3 checks and hit mid-pair. I didn't put anyone on a big ace and wanted equity for my mid-pair which I thought was the best hand. On the turn the Villain check calls my flop bet but then pushes the turn? I didn't believe him hence the possibly insane call. |

Ace good kicker with all those limpers, surely he would raise PF. Ace with a weak kicker... maybe? But wouldn't a raise be then justified especially with 2 suits on the board? I really see a paired ace being shoved by a short stack. On the turn my thinking was that he was using the diamond draw for his fold equity. I mean, if he had the flush wouldn't this be a check-jam situation? Surely he would want to extract as many chips from me as he could. Also, why would he jam the turn with an Ace but not the flop? |

You beat absolutely nothing, He has an Ace or Flush here a lot. What did he call your flop bet with??? Heck he could have an 8 with a better kicker.. |

[/ QUOTE ] you said it your self..the only thing that even remotely makes sense is the flush...yet you still called? if your read was that he had a flush u were drawing dead on the turn...if you make a read, trust it. edit: the jam without the check to you is outplaying you...he assumes u have a good hand and that you MUST call...and you did...because he didnt check to you to feign "weakness" he decided to jam all instantly to catch you off gaurd and make you assume he is weak. |
