Default Da river check-raise bluff

Why do this? I think its pretty bad and hes going to call you with his pair. The way you played it doesnt put you on a set of Jacks, or even a pair of Kings.

However, I think a lot of Villains won't show up with either a K or a J here and are on a pure steal, and won't make big calls with an underpair or A9 or something, I don't really mind it so much against someone who you can count to be firing the river with a weak hand a lot of the time.

All you who hate the play would never call him with TT or A9, thats for sure.

Getting almost 3:1 on the river? Really?

Anyway, why not just like, c-bet the flop? Or bet the turn and rep AK?

Anything I bet for value as cutoff I call. Anything I am bluffing with I fold. Confusion = call.

I like it, personally. Villain's bet makes no sense at all. I certainly don't think he can be strong enough to call a check/raise.

I assume that you checked with the intention of seeing a cheap showdown, and then took villains unnecessary bet into the pot as an opportunity to check/raise?

This only works if villain has absolutely nothing, because your line makes no sense.
Having said that, the chances of villain having nothing are pretty substantial with this line. In fact, I almost think calling may be more +EV.

I was wondering about whether calling > raising. At the time, I remembered all the times I've seen people bet in this situation with 44 or somethin with no idea whether or not they're betting for value or bluffing and I thought if that was the case he could fold a low PP. I think just calling might be more +EV though.
