Starting hands from O8 FL and PL
I have mostly played 2/4 FL 08 for the last two years, but I found a live 1/2 PL 08 game that I was invited to tomorrow night, and I am kind of unexperienced. Mostly from the idea of which starting hands are more acceptable. How should I adjust?

Re: Starting hands from O8 FL and PL
You might want to pick up a book or two. You won't be able to learn the whole book in one day, but at least that can give you a head start. Try High-Low-Split Poker by Ray Zee.
In the meantime, just play tight, observe the players, and what they are playing. Don't overplay your low hands, it can cost you alot in PL. Try to play 2-way hands that can scoop. Position becomes more important than in fixed limit. Good luck. |

Re: Starting hands from O8 FL and PL
I ended up a 110 dollar winner last night. I played more conservatively for a PL game cause I generally play aggressive in NLHE. But it worked to my advantage and I raked a few bigs pots.

I copied this from this forum some time ago:
[ QUOTE ] Here are some general guidelines: No 4 of a kind No 3 of a kind except AAA2-AAA5 and A222 Given those constraints, play: 1. Play 4 cards T and higher with either: suited A, double-paired, double-suited, or paired + single-suited 2. Play 4 cards 6 and below that has A2, A3 or 23 in it - pairs included 3. Play any suited AAxx, A2xx or A3xx 4. Play any offsuit AAxx, A2xx, A3xx or 23xx with either: another unique prime card or 2 ten point cards 5. Play any suited A4 as long as other 2 cards don’t include 7,8,9 5. Play any KK23/QQ23 6. Play suited KK-JJ + 2 prime cards 4 or lower [/ QUOTE ] |
