"was gonna give up for sure once he called"
he's got 99 and thinks you're about to pay off with a j? he's got an overpair and is spewtarded? he's got some combo draw and thinks there's fold equity? any hand with overs and clubs, any oesd, so many river cards ruin you... wait, i've got it.. he's got absolutely nothing, you should look him up. this is a nasty spot to get yourself into edit: i may be bad at poker, but i don't like this call, or the play in general |

From an unknown I wouldn't be surprised by TT+ protecting against your possible FD and/or overs. Pretty sure I lay this down, if he's semibluffing he should expect to have more FE just by pushing over your raise on the flop, right (unless he puts you on a draw and is only bluffing safe turn cards, but that plan seems better suited to some overpair than to air)?

This is one of those times where his line doesn't make sense, so we want to call.

I don't like the flop call either plus I don't think his turn bet is so weird here: he is pretty short so his shove is only about half the pot. Of course you'd normally expect him to check here, but if he does not put you on a J he might push here with every overpair and TT stuff because he might feel he's already commited and might at least gain some FE against you...

This is one of those times where his line doesn't make sense, so we want to call. buuuuuuuuuuuut we still shouldn't [/ QUOTE ] i'm lost. how does his line not make sense? As holdem mentioned, possibly he could be looking at 88+ and not looking for any more overs to fall on the river. Plus, his turn bet isn't even big, it's a 2/3 pot sized bet, what else amount would he bet on the turn? Finally, even if he had AA here, with the pot so big, is it that bad shoving here instead of going for the c/r or c/c? |

I like the flop play, but you gotta fold the turn IMO.
