I thought it was like 2k for women and 2.5k for men. I don't eat much more than this each day to gain weight. Like 2750, which may be a shade on the low side. This might also be why people are fat since despite being mostly sedentary I have a pretty decent metabolism and do ~3-4 hours of heavy exercise each week.

Meh. I'm more of a fan of the "choose a diet, adjust calories by 250 each week depending on goals until you get there." Though that'll likely change somewhat soon.

I'm still baffled why a modicum of HFCS would be worse for you than sugar in bread? The GI/IR would be mostly blunted if you just ate anything other than bread, and even then the difference between the two is almost negligible in the bread itself.
