start menu -> right click computer -> click "manage" -> services and applications -> services -> double click "UPnP Device Host" -> set "Startup Type" to "Disabled" -> click "OK"
never heard of this being necessary. that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it. but are you sure you didn't read that you should disable UPnP on your router? that would make more sense to me.
to do that, you probably need to go to
http://192.168.1.1/ and look for the setting to disable. check the manual for your router. realize that some applications (like uTorrent, for example) like to use this feature.
