The reason the traffic is so bad is SHORE traffic. Everyone and their mother leaves for the shore and the AC expressway becomes a parking lot. A normal 70 minute drive will be closer to 100...

They have their tournaments listed on their website. Tourneys Mon - Thur mainly. Big tourney on weekend.
Wait in new room is usually SHORT even on weekends. They are pretty good lately...

I am color blind. I used to have SUCH problems in Atlantic City at the Tropicana since their tournament chips did not have denominations on them and the $25/$100 chips looked identical to me. ...

I would think the Taj would be ok since there are outside doors on far end of poker room across the hall. 100 feet or so. Before the ban I used to see people always smoking outside there.

Beach in AC is decent. There are nicer beaches just next to Alantic City in Ocean City. Nice boardwalk for stores, arcades, food, games, etc... Decent beach. But dry town so no drinking there...
