Re: high hands: how do you play them?

What about open-raising in LP? Would you more likely raise with a hand like KKQJ double-suited, figuring you have a better chance for high, or a hand like KK47 double-suited, figuring you have a...

Re: high hands: how do you play them?

Looking at my stats, I see that my winrate drops off pretty dramatically between hands with AA,KK,QQ and hands with JJ,TT. I'm going to do away with hands like KQTT and AJJT unless at least the K...

Re: high hands: how do you play them?

Thanks, Tx. Nice piece of advice about raising in multiway pot. I think I pretty much understand how to play them postflop. I don't usually proceed past the flop on a low flop, particularly...

high hands: how do you play them?

I've been beating 0.25/0.50, 0.50/1, and 1/2 O8 full ring for about 3.1 BB/100 over about 5500 hands, but looking at PTO I see what seems to be a glaring leak. In my category of hands containing...

Re: Live 100 NL, Turn raise with monster draw against PFR - good or ba

No, he is a rather weak, passive player. Calls way too much - just dumped about 5 BI's. I don't think he is the type to raise there with 77 or even TT. I think his range is {AA,JJ}, maybe AK even...

Re: Live 2-5 Flopped Nuts, Dark Move on Turn

I think slowplaying here is pretty dangerous. You know your opponent better than I, but if he, in fact, did have a flush draw, that would be disastrous. If he does have two pair, which is probably...

Re: Live 100 NL, Turn raise with monster draw against PFR - good or ba

Why? Tired of folding - two playable hands in the span of 90 minutes, including having to fold KQo preflop to a raise (fortunately - the raiser had AQ). Maybe I should have concocted a different...

Re: NL 100 weird spot BB special

The turn raise is not really an overbet. He is calling your $2.85 (pot $8.55) and raising $8.15 which is pretty standard. The raise screams to me A2 and with your kicker and no reads, I think it's...

Psychology of all-in

This may be more suited to the psychology forum, but has anyone considered the psychology of putting someone all-in? For instance, let's assume you have the nuts or near-nuts on the river and you...

And this thinking he has a set..... I can't even fathom that, sets are really really rare, and I woulnd't believe that someone has one without a LOT more evidence.

Re: Live 100 NL, Turn raise with monster draw against PFR - good or ba

I disagree that I'm not getting a fold more than 10% of the time. Keep in mind that this is live poker where players tend to be much less aggressive than online. I acknowledge that chances are he...

Live 100 NL, Turn raise with monster draw against PFR - good or bad?

OK, here's the situation:

Live 100 NL - Blinds $2/$3

Hero (UTG - $230) 9 /images/graemlins/spade.gif 8 /images/graemlins/spade.gif calls.
2 other callers.
Villain (SB - $100) raises to $20....

Is no limit really better for good players than limit?

The conventional wisdom is that big bet poker is more profitable with less variabce than limit poker - I'm here to challenge that assertion. Now, this may be true for old-fashioned uncapped no-limit...

There usually are not any higher O/8 games than 4/8 unless it is tourney time. There were a couple of 20/40 Omaha/8 tables running during the LAPC back in January but I haven't seen any since then. ...

That however, just as c/ring the turn, relies on the aggression of others', which is not dependable in a passive game.
