Re: $220 HU SNG: Case study vs Tough, aggro opponent

As a followup question Gild, say you revers your rolls. Same action and everything, but this time you are the villain. You are in position and the pot is 600 on the flop.

a) Which hands do you...

Re: $220 HU SNG: Case study vs Tough, aggro opponent

Ah I missed he only had 900 left as well actually on hand 38. Good points you make, however I don't think you're making him face any hard decision at all. The ONLY bad call he can make here is with...

Re: $220 HU SNG: Case study vs Tough, aggro opponent

Ah ok, ye if that's your read on him I guess that's fair!

Would you make the push with any two on the flop? How strong hand do you need to want to get more value out of the hand?

Re: $220 HU SNG: Case study vs Tough, aggro opponent

Very nice post Gild, appreciate the time you took to post it!

I think the play looks nice, but hand 38 I'm not too hot about. You will pretty much never get called by any hand you have beat and...

Re: Calculating your ROI?

Your ROI% is simply:
(net profit) / (total touney entry fees you've payed)

If you want to find out your ROI at certain winrates you can easily equate this as well:

((1-z)xy/(1+z)y)-1+x

x =...

Re: Playing mechanically HU

In a regular SnG the blinds will often be quite large in relation to the effective stacks, so this simplifies the game greatly.

When it comes to deeper stacked HU I'm sure you could be playing...

Re: close edges in cash games

a) It depends. If it slightly adds to the risk that he will leave no matter the outcome and I think I could get more value out of having him at the table for a longer time I wouldn't want to flip the...

Re: preflop aggression

It's probably a cool idea to try out for a learning experience. I know some people who tend to fall into a "limp all" frenzy, and I could see taking a session or two this way of raising pretty much...

Re: folding overpair?

Cwar do you diagree that limping big hands in most cases is a bad play? Could you give a motivation of why you don't think so?

Thanks!

Re: whats a general bankroll needed for playing headsup SnGs?

I guess about 20-30 is enough but it really comes down to personal preference. I like to have more than that since I think I might play too scared with say 20 buy-ins.

Re: Statistics and help programs for HU SnGs/Cashgame

I'd say Tourney Manager for HU SnGs and PT for HU CGs.

Re: Do HU SnG skills transfer well to HU CG?

One of the more importnt skills in HU is reading your villain, and finding out how he plays. Once you've figured out how he plays you will crush him.

HU SnGs will let you train yourself in this...

Re: JJ ew

As played you can't c/f this flop obviously. He's doing this about 100% of the time with any holding. I think his range is a lot wider than QQ+ here and his line doesn't fit a set.

How about...

HU CGs of course. Deepstacks, lower rake, more profit.

NLHU CG probably has some of the highest variance you'll find in...

Re: Where do you go after the $210s?

There is always HU CGs which range from $0.25/$0.5 to $300/$600 so I think you have plenty of room to improve both your skill and your hourly rate if you learn to beat these games...

Re: TPTK vs push

I think it's hard to analyse these hands through a HH since I think my gut helps me a lot in these decissions. But looking at it I don't see a whole lot you beat, especially against a passive player....

Re: TT pre: Fold/Push? 100+5 Stars

I think you're at BEST at a coinflip here anyhow. I personally wouldn't want to flip a coin at this stage if I didn't feel my opp was outplaying me badly.

I like the re-raise pre and I think the...

Re: How do you track your HU Sngs daily?

Check out a program called TourneyManager. Great stuff to keep track of your results and HHs. It has a small price to it but well worth it in my opinion. There is a trial version out there afaik...
