Re: Positive Article Hopefully True

IntRAstate means in the same state.

It would be inTERstate if it was between sites.

That's why public websites are on the Internet, but ones for people to use on corporate LANS are on intranets.

Re: Passive Angleshoot?

This is what I would have done:

Called the 20. When the other player bitched I would have said this:

"Yes, I know it's not a legal raise. But we've let the rule go by in the past and I didn't...

Re: Pathetic home poker stories you have encountered

[ QUOTE ]
Here's my pathetic home game story....

So I play cards at these two guys house, I think they're gay because they always touch each other and hired a male masseuse one time. I'm no...

Re: Yet another dumb question on raises

Thank you for your concise explanation. And sorry for the typos and mis-wording.

Looking back on it, I had it more complicated than I thought it was. It really is as simple as: minumum raise =...

Re: Pathetic home poker stories you have encountered

[ QUOTE ]

Except that in poker you keep track of the score with money. Never the less, you should play for stakes that everyone feels comfortable playing.

I agree, but with a...

Re: Pathetic home poker stories you have encountered

[ QUOTE ]
I once had a guy say "What I'm going to do is this. The chips have no value. You get 10 blue, 10 red, 10 white and just use them to bet."

As long as you're not a purist,...

Re: Yet another dumb question on raises

Never mind. This page (http://www.homepokertourney.com/betting.htm) explained everything.

Re: Yet another dumb question on raises

Well, I guess what I was looking for was probably a simpler question:

I know post-flop the minumum bet is twice the raise that was before me (if someone raises 200, I must raise 400)

Pre-flop,...

Yet another dumb question on raises

I'm trying to make sure I've got the math right.

Blinds 100/200.
SB posts 100
BB posts 200
UTG min raises to 400
Player B's min raise is 400 (to call UTG) + 200 (min raisex2 BB) for 600...

Re: Prison for Lederer, other owners of poker sites?

From what I can tell, running an offshore poker site is no more illegal after the bill is signed than it is last Thursday.

The bill specificly forbids the transaction towards the gambling site....

Re: Ok...I understand everything but the ISP issue

Here's my take--and I'm not a lawyer.

I think if the government forces ISPs to block the hyperlinks, it would take an ammendment to the Wire Act.

If the ISP hosts the site that's getting the...

Re: Nollan Dalla\'s comments, worth reading

[ QUOTE ]

If print magazines were to lose all the online poker room advertising, the magazine industry would very likely go back to something close to a pre-2003 status. Back then, Card Player and...

And this counters my thinking how?

I'm sure the magazines will see their ad revenue suffer but the fact that the magazine is full of online poker ads doesn't mean the online poker...

I seriously doubt that magazines are going to have all that much of an impact. Some certainly, but dwarfed by TV.

You don't think so, huh?

That can't happen until the regulations are out which is months away at the earliest. And quite frankly, it's looking now like the whole hubbub is much ado about nothing.

However, I think he is probably wrong when he says that advertising will end. There's nothing in this new law that eliminates the ".net" loophole, as far as I know.
