PL25 JJ on monotone flop

MP1 is 27/0/3 over measly 25 hands. Got stacked with overplayed AA in a previous session.

Button is 27/8/1.2 over 250 hands and the numbers paint a good picture; aggresive pre-flop and a little...

Re: check turn for control

Doesn't TOP talk about checking behind with a marginal hand when you would hate a re-raise? I would hate to get c/r off this hand by KT/QT (which are in his range) and lose the pot when I could win a...

Re: Check this out: THE draw

Only 1 caller pre-flop at $0.5/$1? You should change tables immediately if this is a trend. Otherwise it looks fine.

Re: Is PartyPoker a good place for Omaha 8/b?

Party was running 8-12 $0.5/$1 tables all weekend with lots of players seeing every flop. Good game selection and fishy players plus bonuses that clear easily at that limit. (Variance is a bit...

Re: what has the least variance

Poker Essays is a collection of Mason Malmuth's columns from various magazines. I read a friend's copy so I can't eleaborate on his methods. I think the rigor is certainly there but it is obviously...

Re: what has the least variance

I don't recall he specifics but Poker Essays 1 has some comparison of variance for different games. Based on my recollection of that, I would think Stud/8 is higher variance (perhaps significantly).

PL25 Top Two facing bet and raise

BB is loose, bad player who likes to min raise with junky hands pre-flop and go too far with top and mid pair. UTG is 26/0/1.8 over 600 hands. UTG has raised a total of one time preflop (didn't...

Re: i hate slowplaying!

I recognize hand 2 all too well.

Unfortunately, I have my own bouts of weak-tight tilt. Getting better though.

Re: Q5 turns full house on scary board - WA/WB?

I don't play 6 max but I gotta believe AQ and KQ raise PF unless villian is super passive. Given that, I think I assume WA and happily go broke the 1 in 25 times I'm WB. I am not convinced he...

Re: Set Upset?

I would probably call as well. It looks like he is trying to shut you out of a draw and you can't rule out a bluff/semibluff on the straight card. With those stats I would expect to see JT a good...

PL25 Top two pair faces RR

Villian is 25/11/1.3 over ~150 hands and seems pretty straightforward so far.

Re: Low Limit LO8 Lotsa LQuestions

At low limits you guys don't think your low is good 1 time in 6? I would probably call the river bet.

Otherwise, I agree with raising the flop.

Re: LO8: nut low and flush draw on turn, raise it?

In addition to the nut flush draw, you have a bunch of straight draws (which may or may not be good)for high so I would think you would have enough equity to raise here.

Maybe some more...

Re: AA facing a min-reraise on flop

fold to minraise on flop.

its completely drawless flop and he minraises you on a K high board and he limped in preflop.

I think villians range has to include AK, JJ,...

Re: betting no limit

I would recommend you check out Harrington on Hold Em Vol 1. It is a tournament book but covers all of the questions you are asking very well. It helped me a lot with bet size and hand reading.

Re: Flopped str8 on a slippery slope

I think I push the turn with the 2nd nuts here - a lot of bad cards can come on the river and villian thinks you bluff too much. Especially since you are putting it in on the river despite a card...

$.5/1 LO8 Nuts on turn lots of action

Button is a donk who overplays two pair and bottom set type hands. MP1 seems typical semi-loose player. Nothing on MP3.

Re: ($25NL) 2nd nut 1 card flush faces all in on river

With the pot around $30 and only another $8 to call, it would take a strong read for me to lay this down at $25NL. I think you see an 8h or 9h or worse more than enough to make this call +EV against...

Re: 2/4 O8: how to play nut str8 with no redraws

I think you played it well. On the flop, I might have been looking to check/raise if an LP player had bet to make the low chasers face two bets cold and thin the field. Since the flop bet came from...

Re: Results

I agree with Aces - if you are pretty sure you can get paid off by villian with something like top pair then I think it is a good line. It sounds like you were not 100% sure he would play TP that...

Re: new to NL .10-.25 A3s in the BB

I am relatively new to NL cash games myself but I will give it a shot.

PF - Small suited aces are a lot less valuable in NL because opponents can make it very expensive to draw at your flush so...

Re: 25NL TPTK vs Megafish multiway

In this case I had seen villian lead with draws and bottom pair and then call down big re-raises with same so I felt good about the play wrt villian but not the 3 to act.
