If I do go LCD it will run me quite a bit more to get the 1080p plus i love sports and notice lcds dont have as fast a refresh rate as the plasmas which will give it the grainy-slight pixalation...

yea your just going to be picking up basic analog without the Hd tuner. You can pick up an HD tuner now for like $75 and have that run in between your antenna and t.v. and that would work fine.
