That's pretty much how it went down, made it 800 even. He had AK. Actually did OK with him heads up later on.

As for the game drying up...lol

Re: 20/40 Live...Any good way to play AQ preflop here?

Worried that soon there won't be a game, at least not one worth playing. My understanding (and I am a newbie too) is that its supposed to pick up now after a slow summer, but the opposite is...

Re: 20/40 Live...Any good way to play AQ preflop here?

That was actually the plan, at the end I didn't (don't) see how I could (can) muck to save my last 800-900 getting those odds.

Re: 20/40 Live...Any good way to play AQ preflop here?

EP is unknown, seems a little weak tight (I hadn't been there long enough to judge). Villian is Marcus, don't know if you know him, but he's like Keith who you've referenced several times (laughs a...

Re: 20/40 Live...Any good way to play AQ preflop here?

The game is actually 10-10-20, $40 to open. So it plays like 20/40, but its a pain to explain every time. Should have just said $80.

20/40 Live...Any good way to play AQ preflop here?

I know its pretty basic, but...

Opponent is good player, hyper-LAG, always plays a massive stack. I am short (about $1700).

EP opens for $60. Opponent in MP makes it $360. In the cutoff I...

live poker is softer because the sharpies can only sit at one table. that leaves alot more room for donks.

[/ QUOTE ]

How does that make any sense? Fewer tables = softer games?

This is true, but its not just that. They also ignore group psychology, physicality, and other basic, fairly logical points, such as the fact that live poker is played by...

Might be underestimating the spaz/boredom/tilt aspect. especially of some 6max LAGS used to 800 hands/hour.

Not only was that not a silly statement. It's boringly true. He could've said something much stronger like said they could crush at much higher stakes.

there isnt a single online player who is beating 5/10+ for 4+ptbb/100 over 50k+ hands that would not crush live games at casinos played at the same stakes

Re: evolution of a poker player...

The cowboys are underrated in this post.

Take a good online player (not the top .01%, just a good player) and stick him at a live table for the first time. While he sits and calculates ranges and...

Re: evolution of a poker player...

I dunno if anyone would put him in the highest category of NL player in any era, although, as referenced in another string, he is an excellent plo player.

The best players of the 90s might get crushed playing today's internet players while playing online; on the other hand, playing them at a table might be a different story. Sorry, but I just can't...

Re: 10-20 Live with trips, how\'d I do?

Given the fact that he is a tight and thinking player, I'd check behind on the river. What is he going to call with that you can beat? Only hands with he likely never would have played in the first...

Re: samoleus and cold calling JTo.

Its a good hand to mix his play with from time to time, esp in position. If he always did what he was "supposed" to do, he wouldn't be all that tricky.

Re: Live, deep, nuts on turn, bad river, call $4,000?

Villian opened for 5x BB UTG, seems to make 99 or 77 (or even JJ) more likely than anything with two clubs, information about his play notwithstanding.

I don't understand how he could just call...

If you're going to play that hand in the first place, can't be afraid to go with it when it hits. I think your play was fine.

Re: 10/20 live

Good chance he's on 55 or 33, though the turn check is odd. Also a good chance he's on a pair higher than 99.

Some chance he's got air (AK, etc.), and possibly 77 or more likely 66, but given the...
