Cigars...
What do you smoke???
I like Carlos Torrano's... the ones with the silver band. |
Re: Cigars...
I've tried quite a few. My regular, nice cheaper cigar of choice is Flor de Oliva Gold or La Gloria Cubano. If I have the time to really enjoy the cigar, I'll splurge on a Macanude Gold or a nice Romeo y Juliet or something.
I'll try whatever, though. I smoke about 2 a week. |

5 Vegas Gold [/ QUOTE ] I also like the gurkha a lot these days. |
Re: Cigars...
I'm kind of a cigar newbie, but I find drinking cigars with any kind of hard liqour or spirit makes the cigar 100x better.
I usually smoke romeo & juliets only because the first time I had a cigar, my friend recommended it, and it was ok. Recently my friend bought me a box of cohibas from dominican and I have been smoking those. |
Re: Cigars...
Cheaper, "everday" smoke (not that I come close to smoking that much): Hoyo de Monterrey Double Maduro. If you buy by the box you can get 'em for like 2 bucks a stick through JR.
Slightly more expensive (maybe $3-$6 per stick): The Edge by Rocky Patel; Padron 2000 or 3000; Gurkha G3; Montecristo Buena Fortuna; Partagas Black; La Gloria Cubana Wavell. Others, but those are the ones that I've liked the most. -McGee |

CA just increased cigar tax by like 100%. Anyone have any suggestions for internet shopping. |
Re: Cigars...
Romeo Y Julieta, Cohibas, H. Upmans are all great cigars. Cubans of these brands are great of you can get a hold of them but the Dominican Republic ones are very good too. I'm an aficiando of sorts, but damn California hates when you smoke outside even.

Re: Cigars...
I'm smoking a Padron (LINK) tonight. I am also a fan of Montecristo, H. Upmann, Partigas, and CAO.

Re: Cigars...
Padron Anniversary, Ashton VSG, Cohiba Siglo 3. My cousin owns a cigar store, free cigars all day.

Re: Cigars...
Punch Monarchas...best $9 you ever set on fire.
|
Re: Cigars...
I mostly buy mine at JR...there's a store within a couple of blocks from my office. I occasionally stop in at my local shop for higher-end stuff when they are having a special.

Anyone order on-line??? [/ QUOTE ] Occasionally, for JR's Weekly Specials. They have some pretty good deals. They also have five-pack samplers, which is nice if you want to try a bunch of new stuff. Buying cigars is sooooooooooo habit-forming, though. I buy way faster than I smoke, and end up giving away a lot. -McGee |
Re: Cigars...
I smoke a lot of different kinds. My current Fav (Kinda new to this still) are the Rocky patel Vintages, and the Rocky Patel Sungrowns.
I buy almost exclusively online via www.cigarbid.com and some other sites on occasion. C-Dog |

Re: Cigars...
I'm a big fan of Partagas Aristocrats.
|
Re: Cigars...
I am a fan of any Partagas, and I've been smoking Partagas Black as of late.
[ QUOTE ] The History: While Jaime Partagas founded the cigar brand that bears his name, most of the history of Partagas was written by Ramón Cifuentes and his father before him. It was they who made Partagas the leading Cuban cigar before Fidel Castro overthrew the Cuban government in 1959. Almost 20 years after Ramón Cifuentes was forced to flee Cuba, he was finally able to begin making his Partagas cigars again in 1978, this time in the Dominican Republic. And it was there as well as in the fertile Connecticut River Valley that he began to train a young man named Daniel Nuñez to become his eventual successor. Now the cigar master of Partagas, Daniel Nuñez is the creator of Partagas Black Label and many other innovations. The Cigar: In order to create Partagas Black Label, Daniel Nuñez and his colleagues spent 10 years perfecting the Medio Tempo wrapper and the La Vega Especial binder. Cuban-seed Medio Tempo wrappers are darker, heavier and richer than other wrappers because they are harvested only after they have been allowed to age on their plants 50% longer than other wrapper leaves. The La Vega Especial binder is sun-grown in the Dominican Republic to give it a deep, rich flavor of its own. To enhance the cigar's full-bodied character even further, the blend is a mixture of Nicaraguan Ligero and Dominican Piloto Cubano Ligero. These tobaccos and a larger ring gauge translate into a richer, fuller-bodied flavor. The Experience: Partagas Black Label is an espresso of a cigar, extremely dark in color and extra rich in flavor. Re: Cigars...
Famous-smoke.com is another good site, too. I've ordered cigars from them several times and they have all arrived fresh and carefully wrapped in bubble wrap.

Re: Cigars...
seriouscigars.com is another good site for online purchases. I smoke, in no particular order:
Padron 1926 Anniversary Padron 1964 Anniversary Carlos Torano Exodus 1959 Rocky Patel Vintage 1992 Arturo Fuente 8-5-8 I smoke natural wrapper, maduro is a bit much for me at times. |
Re: Cigars...
Only 2 brands in my humidor at the moment.
Hoyo de Monterrey Dark Sumatrans Punch Royal Coronas I get mine from JR cigar online. |
Re: Cigars...
I usually buy one or two at a time and just keep them in the plastic bag from the tobacco outlet and smoke them before they dry out. If I got a box of 20 from online, would they stay fresh in one of the cigar boxes or do I need a humidor. thanks from a cigar n00b.

Re: Cigars...
"would they stay fresh in one of the cigar boxes or do I need a humidor."
You're going to need a humidor. Without one you will notice the cigars losing moisture within days and by then end of a week they will not be worth smoking. Whenever I'm in Cuba I purchase my cigars at the airport on my way out of the country. This way they aren't sitting in my hotel room for a week drying out. |

vikefan24, et al:
The JR Weekly Special this week is a humidor filled with 48 La Finca Valentino cigars for 60 bucks. I can't vouch for the quality of cigar or humidor, but it may be worth taking a chance on if you don't want to invest too much in a humidor. -McGee |

I smoke natural wrapper, maduro is a bit much for me at times. [/ QUOTE ] ??? Maduro is often a much more mellow and smooth smoke. Good choice with the Padron's. However I do think you are making a huge mistake smoking the Natural Padron's as Padron's maduro cigars are world class. |

Re: Cigars...
out of curiousity I live in a small studio in a cold weather state. Am I [censored] out of luck when it comes to cigars for this season? Does anyone smoke cigars indoors and have any recommendations for there not to be a terrible, long lasting cigar smell? Thanks!

Which one of the 5 Vegas series A is the best? Comes with a free humidor with a purchase of a box of them. [/ QUOTE ] I've tried the "Archtype" and "Artisan", both are very good. I've heard the "Apex" is good as well, although I'm not a big fan of box pressed cigars. The free (somewhat small) humidor is a good deal, since the cigars are well worth the money on their own. SF |
