Default on salvia, the legal hallucinogenic.

so i was listening to dr dean o'dell on AM radio while i was driving around this sunday. anybody else listen to him? he's pretty interesting. an older doctor w/ a great view on life. anyway, someone called in and asked him what he thought about salvia, a legal hallucinogenic drug.

i had never heard about salvia. odell presented some information about it and said it is a leaf that the mayans used during religious ceremonies. he complained that some politicians are trying to get the use of it criminalized only for the knee jerk reaction that it is a hallucinogenic. he was more concerned about the smoking method to injest it and said that some native americans chew the leaves which he seemed to be happier w/ since that avoided smoking.

so question is, anyone here tried this stuff? what was the experience like?

ive looked online and there are lots of places to order it (as an incense). i called one head shop in town but they dont sell it.

Moderate doses appear trance-like. Time distortion and open-eye visuals become increasingly apparent. Fractal patterns and geometric shapes may be noticeable with eyes open, and can be very confusing. Many people experience sensations of falling, similar to what is occasionally felt at the onset of sleep. The user may experience fully formed visions of other places, people, and events, especially with eyes closed.

At high doses, the effects become more powerful and may additionally include out-of-body experiences, perceptions of gravitational distortion, vertigo, sensations of wind or physical pressure, hearing voices, flanging of sound, significant open and closed-eye visuals, experiencing alternate realities, contact with beings or entities, dissolution of one's ego, and dissociation.

Yeah, I've done it. It's [censored] crazy. Highly hallucinogenic.

One of my roommates in college bought some from a smoke shop one time. I don't know what the quality of it was or anything, but I do remember that it didn't really do a whole lot to any of us.

Friend tried it, not a big druggie, he's only ever done weed, he said it was nothing, gave him almost no trip at all and the tiny high lasted about 8 minutes. This was using a bong btw.

I saw a bunch of potted salvia plants at the (NYC) Union Square greenmarket yesterday being sold right next to the leek, oregano and thyme. I was highly amused.

Word has it it's much more intense than LSD (with the right dose, otherwise it does nothing), but the duration is shorter. I'd stay clear.

A bunch of my friends recently got into it. Basically they'd get 5X-20X extract, pack a bowl, take a hit and hold it in for a few seconds until you feel it. After that theyd just smile and be in their own little world. Wouldn't really say anything, and if they did it was just nonsense. The intense high last for a few minutes and they'd see [censored]. One friend didnt feel much though cause she didnt smoke it right. Gotta make sure you hold it.

Some friends of mine in LA live in a big artist's loft building where apparently it's pretty common at the parties. The way he described the experience sounded a lot like a K-hole. Which is by 1000 times the most trippy thing I've ever experienced. Truly an out of body experience. The only connection I had left was this vague feeling that I was tethered to some kind of body and I probably wanted to not let it crap it's pants. My theory is that not crapping ones pants must be one of the deepest primordial instincts we have, and the last thing to go before the involuntary stuff like heart and lungs start to lose it.

I have smoked some back in the day with some other people. We smoked for about 2 straight hours and 1-2 people out of 6 said they felt something but I felt no effects at all.
