today my license gets suspended!
i guess the gov't thought it would be fun to rape me
about a year ago, i was driving my girlfriend's car through midtown manhattan as a favor for her. it was around 5pm and i was right near the lincoln tunnel so there was awful gridlock. when the light turned red, i pulled out my cell phone to call her to say i was going to be late. i see flashing lights behind me, and i get pulled over. so i pull over, which now blocks the rightmost lane, and the cop stays in the middle lane, and gets backup which takes up half the intersection. brilliant cop is very impatient, asks for license and registration. give him my license, i ask if i can call ot find out where the regi is. he says no and gives me a ticket for that and for being on my cell phone in massive gridlock at a red light. he says i can mail in a copy of the registration and not have to pay a fine. so i pick up my gf and we go back to her house in NJ. her dad insisted on paying the ticket, and took it from me. he paid it and send a copy of the regi. several months later i get a letter saying that i never paid the registration ticket and that my license was going to be suspended. so i go to the DMV in herald square and the guy says that my record is clean and there's no unpaid fines or anything. i ask if i can ahve some kind of proof just in case and he says i can wait on the regular line for that. i sat for 20 minutes and moved up about 2% of the line so i got up and left last week i get a letter in the mail saying effective April 22 my license was being suspended and i have to pay a $750 fine to remove the suspension plus any fines for the original ticket. sweet tl;dr i know

oh right, bbv what always helps me when i'm being hassled at the dmv is to realize that these people wake up every morning and come to work at the dmv hope it all works out
